Japan's web3 startup Gaudiy raises $24.5M to build a fan community of Web3

Gaudiy, a provider of the Gaudiy Fanlink, a fan community platform for the Web3, announced on August 31, 2022, that it has raised 900 million yen (≒$6.5M), completing a Series B round totalling 3.4 billion yen ($24.5M).

With the mission of "Advancing the Age with Fans," Gaudiy develops and provides "Gaudiy Fanlink," a fan community platform for the Web3 that maximizes fan loyalty. Since its founding in 2018, Gaudiy has developed community services that utilize advanced technologies, particularly blockchain, and provides services to major entertainment companies.

Gaudiy Fanlink" is a fan community platform for the Web3 that maximizes fan loyalty by utilizing blockchain technologies such as NFT and DID (decentralized ID), etc. Through the provision of a community system unique to each intellectual property content, it records and accumulates fans' cross-sectional activity data and creates an ecosystem where fans' contributions and loyalty are properly evaluated and returned to them.

In this round, the company raised 900 million yen from Sony Music Entertainment, Mitsubishi UFJ Innovation Partners, Sanrio, and Mizuho Capital, following the 2.5 billion yen raised in the the 1st Close of Series B round in June 2022. With this additional funding, the total amount raised in the Series B round will be 3.4 billion yen.

With the funds raised, Gaudity will focus more on recruiting talents in Japan and overseas, full-scale global expansion, further development of community services, and development of the Web3 metaverse business. In terms of business investment, the company will focus on technological investment to expand its existing Gaudiy Fanlink service and global expansion, beginning with the launch of the service in Southeast Asia in the spring of 2023. They will also invest in new business development, including Metaverse within 2023. In the mid to long-term, the company will provide support for its own token listing for each IP.
