On September 30, 2022, PROGRIT, a provider of English coaching programs, announced that it was newly listed on the Growth Market of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
Founded in August 2016 by Shogo Okada, formerly of McKinsey, and Shuntaro Yamazaki, formerly of Recruit, PROGRIT is a startup company that offers an English coaching service to learn practical business English in a short time. In addition to English coaching services, the company also offers global human resource development services for corporate clients and subscription-based English learning services.
In their previous jobs, Okada and Yamazaki saw companies not being able to do business smoothly because of their English skill, and businesspeople missing out on opportunities to be active globally. This led to this service. With the mission of "increasing the number of people who can work freely in the world," we hope to provide skills and confidence to all people through our service and encourage as many people as possible to work freely in the world.
The company received an investment from Keisuke Honda in 2018, a soccer player who works as an angel investor. For Honda, this is the second company in which he has invested to go public, following Makuake Inc. which went public in 2019.
PROGRIT describe this listing as follows:
“We would like to thank all of our customers, business partners, shareholders, and all other stakeholders who have supported us since our establishment. Our main business concept is to provide English language coaching services to improve English language skills in a short period of time, and we have also been providing subscription-based English language learning services. We will continue to expand our business and increase our corporate value in order to realize our mission of "increasing the number of people who can freely play an active role in the world.”
